OUR PROGRAMS



VSH is a comprehensive child care program that focuses on the "whole child" and provides related services to the family. The educational curricula is child-oriented and endeavors to draw upon the cultural life styles of the family. The intent of the Valley Settlement House is to serve as an extension, not a replacement for the home or cultural environment. Our objective is to utilize the resources of the community in helping our families to grow.



Preschool





Monday - Friday: 7:30 AM to 5:30 PM


Accredited by the National Association for the Education of Young Children, the goal of our preschool component is to provide a developmentally appropriate program designed to foster the growth of our children socially, emotionally, cognitively, and physically. Our Preschool is a Full-Year Program. We are licensed to serve 90 children between the ages of 2.5 to 5 years old. The children are served a nutritious breakfast, lunch, and afternoon snack daily.

Monday - Friday: 2:30 to 6:00 PM from September until June.


The After School Program provides homework assistance, indoor/outdoor recreation, arts & crafts, computer lab, and a variety of other special activities. We are licensed to serve 44 children between the ages of 6 and 13 years old. An afternoon meal is served daily. Our After School Program has entered into a collaborative effort with local community public schools in order to meet the needs of our children with increased effectiveness.



teen night





Wednesday: 6:30 to 9:00 PM


Teen Night provides a safe haven for teens every Wednesday night during the months of October through June. Activities include educational motivation, individual and group counseling, field trips, physical education, and career motivation.



summer camp





Our ten-week Summer Day Camp Program offers a combination of educational and recreational experiences geared to enhance the overall development of each child. Activities include arts and crafts, performing arts, academic reinforcement, technology, physical education, and field trips. The ten-week program ends with a culminating closing program in which participants demonstrate what they have learned in their academic reinforcement and performing arts classes for their families and invited guests. The following day, all campers and their families are invited to a day of fun and food. This program enrolls 84-90 children annually. A nutritious breakfast and lunch are served daily.
